The Academic Center Organizes a Workshop on Use of AI to write PBL Scenario

The Academic Center for Learning and Teaching (ACLT) at the Libyan International University (LIMU) organized a workshop on “Using Artificial Intelligence to Design Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Scenarios” for faculty members on July 3, 2025.

The workshop aimed to equip faculty members with the knowledge and skills to leverage AI in creating high-quality, engaging, and pedagogically sound PBL scenarios. The interactive session covered the following objectives:

Role of AI in Education: Participants explored how AI can support teaching and learning, including its applications in generating, refining, and personalizing educational content.

Components of Effective PBL Scenarios: The session highlighted essential elements of PBL design, such as alignment with learning objectives, realism, and strategies to engage students actively.

AI Tools for Scenario Development: Faculty members were introduced to AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Jasper, and Claude, learning how to generate initial drafts of PBL scenarios tailored to specific disciplines and contexts.

Evaluation and Refinement: Attendees practiced assessing AI-generated scenarios for accuracy, relevance, and adherence to best practices in PBL, and learned techniques to modify and enhance scenarios to maximize learning outcomes.

Designing Customized PBL Scenarios: Participants developed their own AI-supported PBL scenarios, ensuring the integration of cognitive, collaborative, and practical skills relevant to their target audience.

Curriculum Integration Strategies: The workshop discussed ways to incorporate AI-enhanced PBL scenarios into courses, fostering active learning, critical thinking, and student-centered education.

Ethical Considerations: Faculty members reflected on the ethical use of AI in education, addressing issues such as inclusivity, bias prevention, and maintaining academic integrity.

The workshop underscored the transformative potential of AI in designing innovative learning experiences. Faculty members left with practical skills to create PBL scenarios that are not only efficient and adaptable but also aligned with the highest standards of pedagogical practice.
